Built in 1922, downtown Dallas landmark Booker T. Washington High School is a gorgeous example of Classical Revival architecture. Over the decades, decisions were made to replace the great fifty-year-old double-hung wood windows with cheap wood windows that failed and compromised the building's integrity within 15 years. Hull Millwork was brought on to conduct a comprehensive window survey and identify the core window problems. The study found that previous contractors had utilized substandard materials and improper installation methods that were fundamentally incompatible with the building's historic construction. The solution required returning to proven materials historic construction techniques and craftsmanship. The result preserves the heritage and architectural integrity of the building while ensuring beauty and functionality for generations of future students.
